The recently renovated Trappeto takes its name from the old oil mills of Salento, called "Trappeti", dating from the period between the 15th and 17th centuries, of which there still remain several hypogea, some of which can be visited. One of these oil mills is present in the structure.
Il Trappeto Holiday Farm offers free parking, free Wi-fi in public areas, a spacious garden and three terraces where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful views. The hotel offers buffet breakfast and dinner with a traditional menu based on local products accompanied by local wines.
Il Trappeto Holiday Farm has simply furnished rooms, decorated with pastel colours. Each room has a private entrance, private bathroom with shower, air conditioning, fridge, and LCD flat screen television.
From the hotel you can reach in a short time the old town of the city, divided from the village again from a 17th-century bridge. Near the bridge is the Castello Angiono-Aragonese, while in the old town you can visit old palaces and baroque churches, including the Cathedral of Sant'Agata, the Greek Fountain and the Church of San Francesco d’Assisi.
Close to the old village is the characteristic Purità, a natural Bay of fine sand, from which you can enjoy the view of beautiful sunsets and see the island of Sant'Andrea, a place of great natural interest for the presence of marine species and migratory birds in danger of extinction.
From Gallipoli you will be able to explore all the other famous places of Salento, such as Lecce and Otranto, and the beautiful beaches of the Ionian Coast stretching down to Santa Maria di Leuca, extreme southern tip of Salento peninsula, where they join the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic Sea.
